Lea Sulkala

Lea Sulkala has nearly two decades of experience as a senior staff member on Capitol Hill and as a lobbyist.
Most recently Lea was Chief of Staff to Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA), who during her tenure served as Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and as Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. As Chief of Staff, Lea oversaw all of Rep. Sanchez’s work in House Democratic Leadership and on the Ways and Means Committee. She was also a senior advisor to Rep. Sanchez in her roles as Ranking Member of the House Ethics Committee and member of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
Prior to joining Rep. Sanchez’s office, Lea spent ten years in government affairs focusing primarily on health care and intellectual property issues, first at the American Heart Association and then at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.
Lea began her career in Washington, DC with Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-NC). A native of North Carolina, Lea holds Bachelors degrees in History and Political Science from the University of North Carolina. She currently resides in Virginia with her husband and two daughters.
